Very happy to hear that both Esther Mallett and Rachael Cox, both of whom performed in our recital series last year, made it to the semi-finals of the Somerset Song Prize in Taunton this weekend.

The Somerset Song Prize for young singers is a prestigious part of the recital circuit for up-and-coming singers.

Unfortunately neither made it to the finals, but Rachael's accompanist Ian Tindale (who played for her in the summer) did make it that far.

Another Bristol-based accompanist, the composer David Bednall, also appeared in the semi-finals - Charlotte Newstead sang some of his songs in her July recital.
